Lawn Aerating

BENEFITS OF AERATION

Lawn aeration can make your lawn healthier and reduce it's overall maintenance requirements by providing improved air exchange to the roots and allowing better absorption of water and nutrients.

WHEN TO AERATE

Aerate in Spring to early Summer. Additional aerating can be done in the Fall, if necessary.

HOW OFTEN TO AERATE

Recommended once a year, although compacted, clay soils, or areas impacted by heavy foot traffic, may require more frequent aeration.

FERTILIZING

A vital component in maintaining a lush and healthy lawn. Fertilizing is important during aeration, as its able to better access the roots during this process. Be sure to water your lawn well afterwards to ensure absorption and avoid fertilizer burn of the grass blades.

OVERSEEDING

Planting seed directly into existing lawn to fill in bare spots, improve density, and enhance the overall appearance and color of your lawn.

LIME TREATMENTS

Grass grows best in slightly acidic soil, with a pH between 6.5 and 7. The proper soil acidity will allow your lawn to better absorb nutrients and fertilizer. Lawns in regions with more rainfall, such as the Pacific Northwest, may require more regular lime treatments. Poor growth and moss are also indicators that your lawn may need lime. It can take as long as one to two years to raise the pH in your lawn, and regular applications are important for your lawn to thrive.
